Man Randomly Beaten, Robbed in Sucker-Punch Attack: NYPD
A man walking home from work late last Monday in Queens was beaten and robbed by a trio of suspects still on the run, police say.
Cops claim the 34-year-old victim did not know the men who attacked him at the corner of Greenpoint Avenue and 48th Avenue in Sunnyside at around 11:30 p.m. They stole $600 from his wallet, an iPhone X and headphones, police said.
Officials say the three men first started to yell at the man before punching and kicking him. The punishing blows knocked the victim to the ground and that is when the men pounced and robbed him.
The suspects fled the area in an unknown direction and the victim was rushed to an area hospital to be treated for bruises to his head and body. He has since been released.
Video released by the NYPD shows one of the suspects sucker-punch the victim, causing him to hit the ground. Things only got worse from there, the video shows, as all the suspect’s then start hitting him while he was on the ground.
Investigators urge witnesses to call Crime Stoppers with tips.
