Man Punches Child With Autism in Unprovoked Attack: Sources


Police say a man randomly punched a young child with autism riding the subway in Manhattan.

The eight-year-old boy, who sources say has autism, was with his mother Monday at around 8:30 p.m. when the suspect walked over and punched him in the head as the train was pulling into the Fulton Street subway station in the Financial District, according to the NYPD. Police said no words were exchanged during the attack. 

The boy, whose head swelled up, was taken to an area hospital, where he was treated and released. 

Authorities released surveillance images (above) of the suspect accused of the attack. He is described as being about 50 years old with an injured right eye. 

Witnesses are urged to call Crime Stoppers with tips.
