Homeless Men Punched, Kicked in Brutal Sidewalk Attack: NYPD

A group of robbers punched and kicked four homeless men in Brooklyn — one of whom was listed in critical condition after the attack, police said.

The four men, who range in age from 41 to 61, were sitting and sleeping in front of a building near 10th Avenue and 60th Street in Borough Park around 6:45 a.m. on Feb. 23 when the five suspects went up to them and started asking for money, the NYPD said.

The suspects then started punching, kicking and throwing unidentified objects at the homeless men, police said.

Surveillance video from the scene shows two of the attackers kicking a man lying under a blanket before dragging him out from underneath and continuing to attack him.

The attackers stole $5 from one of the men before fleeing the scene, police said.

Two of the men were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to police. The other two men initially refused medical attention at the scene, but one of them — a 42-year-old man — was later taken to the hospital after complaining of head pain.

He was listed in critical condition with severe head trauma at the hospital, according to police.

Police have arrested two of the suspects, but are still searching for the other attackers.

Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS.
