Piece of Elevated Train Track Crashes Through Car Windshield

A piece of an elevated 7-train track crashed through the windshield of a moving car below, narrowly missing the vehicle's driver, a local politician said.

The beam pierced the car's windshield near 65th Street in Woodside, Queens, Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer said in a tweet Thursday afternoon.

Photos Van Bramer tweeted show the car parked beneath the tracks. Its windshield is impaled by a beam that appears to have fallen from above.

"Thankfully the driver was not injured, but someone could have been killed!" the politician tweeted. "There must be an immediate investigation into how something this dangerous could happen."

"@MTA must answer for our crumbling subway infrastructure before a tragedy occurs,"  he added.
