Chicago Officer Shot During Gun Battle With Bank Robbery Suspect

A Chicago police officer has been hospitalized after being shot during a gun battle with a bank robbery suspect in the city's Old Irving Park neighborhood, authorities say. 

According to a police spokesman, the officer was transported to Illinois Masonic Hospital after they were shot near the intersection of Irving Park Road and Lowell Avenue just after 7 p.m. 

Sources tell NBC 5 that the officer was responsive, but no further information was available on their condition at this time.
