Weather Eyed in Crash That Sent Car Careening Into LI Home

The wet weather is being eyed as the reason behind a crash on Long Island Friday morning that resulted in a car slamming into a home, authorities say.

The car that careened into a home, leaving an enormous hole in the structure, was apparently involved in an accident with a truck from the Bronx. The impact of that accident drove the car into the home in Plainview.

There was one person inside the car and at least one person inside the home at the time of the incident. Fire officials say the person in the home was thrown by the impact of the video slamming into the home, but the person was not seriously injured. They were taken to a hospital as a precautionary measure.

Fire officials are blaming the incident on the rainy weather.

“Apparently, there was a little bit of a slick road,” Larry Barron, of the Plainview Fire Department, said. “The truck veered and perhaps cutoff the car, we aren’t sure. The car veered and made an opening in the house.”

Four people were taken to the hospital as a result of the incident, although they are not believed to be seriously hurt, according to the Plainview Fire Department.

Both the truck and the vehicle were towed from the scene.
