Swath of 7th Avenue Closed After Water Main Break: NYPD

A swath of Seventh Avenue was temporarily closed to traffic due to a water main break, the NYPD said. 

The southbound lanes on Seventh Avenue in Manhattan were closed from 25th Street to 34th Street in Chelsea, the NYPD's 10th Precinct said in a tweet shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday.

The precinct has asked commuters to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

1 trains were temporarily skipping local stops between Chambers Street and Penn Station as crews drained water from the tracks, but have since resumed normal service.
