School Bus Accident Brings Down Utility Pole in New Jersey
A school bus with students on board brought down a utility pole before crashing into a cemetery fence in New Jersey.
The accident took place at the intersection of Birchwood Lane and Valley Road in Boonton Friday afternoon.
The bus was carrying 18 children, six of which were taken to a nearby hospital.
The driver was also hospitalized.
The extent of the injuries sustained by the children and driver hurt was not immediately clear.
Police say the bus left Rockaway Valley Elementary and only managed to get down the road, when it veered off the road and hit a power poll.
The students were taken off the bus immediately, transported onto another bus and taken back to the school.
Images from the scene show a school bus that appears to have struck a metal fence of a cemetary.
Police are investigating whether the driver suffered a medical episode.
The bus was towed from the scene.
