Police Shoot Suspect After Car Fire Outside Precinct: NYPD


A police officer shot a man after a car was set on fire outside an NYPD precinct in Queens, police said. 

The man was shot at about 3 p.m. near the 111th Precinct in Bayside, the NYPD said. He was taken to a hospital and expected to survive. 

No officers were injured in the shooting at Northern Boulevard and 215th Street. 

In a tweet, police asked people to avoid the area due to an investigation.

Police said the car may have been set on fire by the man who was shot. 

Details on the circumstances of the shooting were not immediately known.
