NJ Driver Escapes Cops During 100 MPH Chase, Is Now on Run

Authorities are looking for a 20-year-old man who eluded police during a 100 mile-per-hour chase in New Jersey over the weekend.

Officials initially responding to a call about a fight between a man and a woman in an apartment complex parking lot in Ocean County's Jackson Saturday afternoon were told while en route that the vehicle had left, with the male suspect driving.

An officer spotted his car a short time later and, after confirming it was the vehicle police were looking for, activated his squad car's emergency lights to try to pull over the driver. Instead of pulling over, cops say the driver sped up.

The officer started chasing the man's car, which reached speeds of 100 miles per hour as it passed other vehicles on the road over a double yellow line, police say. Eventually, it made its way into Lakewood and the Jackson officer stopped chasing.

Over the course of their investigation, police identified the driver as Larry Crippen, with addresses in both Jackson and Lakewood. They also found that Crippen had an outstanding warrant out of Ocean County, though details on that case weren't immediately clear.

As far as the chase, Crippen faces charges of eluding, hindering apprehension and unlawful taking of means of conveyance on a complaint warrant. He also was hit with a number of traffic offenses, including speeding and driving with a suspended license. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call the Jackson Police Department at 732-928-1111.
