Missing Teen With Autism Found Trying to Board Ferry: Police

A teen with autism who went missing in Bronxville Thursday evening was found on Friday after a Good Samaritan spotted him waiting to board the Staten Island ferry, police say.

Mel Harris was last seen at the Bronxville Public Library at 7:25 p.m. on Thursday, police said.

On Friday, a Good Samaritan saw Harris waiting to board the Staten Island ferry on the Manhattan side around 4 p.m., recognized him and notified security, Yonkers police said.

It wasn't immediately clear how he got to lower Manhattan. He has been taken to a nearby hospital for evaluation, according to police.

Harris' most recent disappearance isn’t the first time he has gone missing.

In 2017, he was found in New York City on a Saturday evening after going missing in Yonkers in the afternoon
