Baby Among Four Injured in Horrific Crash on Long Island
A horrific two-car crash on Long Island Wednesday morning injured four, including a woman and a baby.
The incident occurred in Mastic Beach around 11 a.m.
Images from the scene show a car flipped over and debris thrown about across a residential area, including a front yard.
Residents in the area say the incident is a wake up call for people to slow down in the neighborhood.
The crash left one vehicle flipped on its hood and at least four people injured, including an unidentified baby.
“I saw the guy come out from the car holding the baby. The baby was all limp. Everyone started screaming. EMT started working on the baby,” Stacy, who witnessed the accident’s aftermath from her home, said.
Suffolk County Police say the baby and three others were in a white car that struck another vehicle, the latter overturning with a couple inside.
The white car eventually came to rest at a driveway.
“They took out the garage, they hit my vehicle,” Eric Sprague said. “It’s kind of part of living here.”
Sprague and others in the area say that vehicles routinely speed through this neighborhood.
“They need to slow down. Keep within the speed limit,” Darrell Morris, a Mastic Beach resident, said.
The baby and the woman with the baby were severely injured although police have not divulged the current conditions of any of the victims or their identities.
Hours after the incident occurred, Suffolk Police crews were working on removing an overturned vehicle as investigators continued to look into what took place.
