Several People Struck Outside Rockland County Store: Police

Several pedestrians were struck by a vehicle in front of a Rockland County store on Wednesday, resulting in “some serious injuries,” officials said.

The vehicle hit the pedestrians in front of a 7-Eleven at 75 Central Highway in Garnerville around 1:50 p.m., Captain Martin Lund of the Town of Haverstraw Police Department said.

Lund said five children and two adults were involved in the accident, all of whom may have been struck.

There were “some serious injuries,” he said. It wasn’t immediately clear how many of the pedestrians were struck, or what injuries they sustained.

The driver of the vehicle was taken to the police station for questioning, he said.

“We’re hoping for the best for all involved but we don’t know any medical conditions as of yet,” Lund said, adding that an investigation is ongoing.
