Police in NJ Search for Vehicle Involved in Fatal Hit-Run

Authorities in New Jersey are searching for the driver involved in a fatal hit-and-run that took place Monday in North Bergen.

According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, at around 8:15 p.m. the North Bergen Police Departement received a 911 call reporting a body lying on 43rd Street in the area of Tonnelle Avenue.

When police arrived on scene, officers allegedly observed an unresponsive woman, identified as Darlene Westbrook, 34, at the scene where she was treated before being transported to Jersey City Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday.

The investigation by the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department allegedly determined that a motor vehicle was involved in this fatal incident.

Authorities are searching for the suspected vehicle involved in the incident, which is described as a 2001-2003 Chrysler Voyager Minivan light in color, possibly silver.

The suspected minivan is missing both front hub caps and was last observed traveling north on Kennedy Boulevard from 35th Street on Monday between 8:15 and 8:20 p.m., authorities say.
