NYPD Officer Injured During Pursuit on FDR Drive

An NYPD officer has been injured during a police pursuit on the FDR Drive, law enforcement sources said.

According to a preliminary investigation, officers were investigating a call of gunshots fired on the Upper East Side Thursday night and tried to pull over a vehicle matching the suspect's description on the FDR Drive, police sources said.

The driver backed up and hit the officers' patrol car, then took off, sparking a police pursuit, the sources said. The vehicle was found abandoned near East Houston Street, and the suspect apparently fled on foot.

Part of the FDR Drive is shut down as police investigate.

One of the officers in the car that was hit was taken to Bellevue Hospital, sources said.
