Missing Girl, 14, Found With Registered Sex Offender: Police

A 14-year-old Bronx girl who went missing and was believed to be with a 35-year-old registered sex offender has been found, the NYPD said.

The girl left her house on Bussing Avenue around 6 p.m. Thursday, a source said, after her mother found content on her tablet indicating she had a sexual relationship with the man, identified by the source as Anthony Ferdinand.

Police on Saturday said both the girl and Ferdinand were found at the Herald Square train station around 10:15 a.m.

It wasn't immediately clear if Ferdinand would face charges. Police said an investigation is ongoing.

Ferdinand was arrested in February 2003 in the rape of a mentally disabled 19-year-old girl, and then again in July 2006 for forgery and other related charges. He was arrested yet again for theft of service, and then for failure to register as a sex offender.

When he was arrested for larceny, he had been found in the company of another missing child, the source said.

Ferdinand is a registered level two sex offender, according to public state records. His last known address was in Cypress Hills, Brooklyn.
