Man Hits Random Woman With Metal Barrier, Says 'You're it'

A man is accused of randomly attacking a woman last month in Manhattan with a metal police barrier he dragged across the street while yelling “tag, you’re it,” officials say.

Police say they have been searching for the 20-something-year-old man since the Jan. 20 beating on Bleecker Street in the East Village. No words were exchanged between the attacker and the 26-year-old woman and the duo did not know each other, according to the NYPD.

The suspect, last seen wearing a black track jacket and gray sweatpants, grabbed the barrier, dragged the hump of metal across the street, hit the woman with it over her back and told her she was it, authorities said.

The victim suffered a deep gash, but refused medical attention, police said. The suspect quickly ran off and hasn’t been seen since.
