At Least 1 Dead in Chain-Reaction Crash on Cross Bronx
One person is dead and another is clinging to life after a chain-reaction crash early Monday on the Cross Bronx Expressway, officials say.
The wreck happened just after 1 a.m. Monday on the westbound side of the road near Webster Avenue. Police said one person was pronounced dead at the scene and added that another person is in extremely critical condition.
Officials said two cars crashed and then at least three more collided shortly after, causing the chain-reaction wreck.
All westbound lanes remain shut down to traffic while authorities investigate. One lane on the eastbound side was also closed in the area.
