Off-Duty NYPD Cop Dies in Wreck With Garbage Truck: Sources

An off-duty NYPD officer has died in a vehicle-involved crash in the Bronx, police sources say. 

Authorities got a call reporting a car accident at 870 Shore Road, in the Pelham Bay section of the Bronx, at 8:30 a.m., the FDNY said. 

One person was taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to the department.
