1 Dead After Fire Breaks Out at NYC Luxury Building: FDNY

One person died and another was in serious condition after a fire broke out at a luxury building in Manhattan, the FDNY said.

Firefighters received a call reporting a fire on the ninth floor of River House, a co-op apartment building on East 52nd Street, around 5:18 a.m. Saturday, the department said.

One person died in the fire and another person was taken to the hospital in serious condition, according to the fire department.

A firefighter was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries, the FDNY said.
